Hi, I'm Donna McGlynn, I'm a Melbourne based Graphic Designer,
The early years
Ever since I was in primary school, I knew I was destined for design. Forever exploring creativity, my passion grew with every year that passed, then for my tenth birthday, I was given a set of 72 Derwent colour pencils. I still shudder remembering that feeling, I was going to colour the world... and I did. Those pencils still sit pride of place in my office and are a constant reminder of the many hours I would whittle away to get the perfect point and sharpest colour for my creations.
Then I got qualified
It started with work experience in year 10 at Beat Magazine at the tender age of 15, I didn't want to leave, but I finished high school and did what I needed to get qualified... then I was off. I began working in a small design studio (The Design Department) in Melbourne where I was given the freedom to explore all facets of the industry. I then took my expertise and freelanced for many years in Melbourne, London and the beautiful city of Edinburgh, I was in heaven.
I travelled back to Australia, then with the birth of my babies working for someone else became difficult, so The Design Parade was born, that was in 2010.
Then I became a Teacher
I was approached by Melbourne Polytechnic to teach in 2015 and used my experience to teach Graphic Design and Photography students. What a rewarding experience to make a difference to these young (and sometimes older) design sponges.
I'll never stop designing, I simply can't!
Let's talk!
